The international marketing landscape signals a strong worldwide movement of consumers looking for food that has been produced in an environmentally sound, socially just manner and yet does not pose risks to their health.

It is part of Origine’s mission to offer products with high quality and safety for human consumption in strict compliance with all the requirements of sustainable production. It is in this sense that every action developed by the Group is planned, in the productive chains of the platforms in which Origine operates.

In this sense, JR Indústria Frigorífica is the Origine Group company that will be responsible for the industrial processing of Akaushi beef. Developing this link in the production chain will provide Origine with highly specialized cuts of meat, offering to the international market a quality product, not a commodity.

JR Industria Frigorifica will be a state-of-the-art processing plant, characterized by high technology, rationality in procedures and the permanent pursuit of excellence in all processes. Such characteristics are essential for the business as a whole, not only by contributing to its technical feasibility, since it ensures greater efficiency in the production of Akaushi fresh beef, but also by the positive impact on the economic viability of the business.

The adoption of high technology will be apparent, for example, in the sanitary envelope (blue and white lines that do not cross to avoid contamination); In the pre-cooling that prepares the product for any market in the world; In the choice of high performance machines; In the utilization of a machine that removes the leather from the animals; In the high yield press; In the modified atmosphere; among others.

All the machines and equipment acquired by the plant follow the Regulatory Norm NR 12 – Safety in the work in machines and equipment approved by Portaria nº 3.214, of June 8, 1978 and with the alterations of the Ordinance of the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE) nº 857, published 06/26/15.

The animals to be slaughtered and processed at JR Industria Frigorífica will originate from the Origine Feedlot – in the case of Akaushi animals from other feedlots, or directly from the partner producers, in the latter two cases being animals with Akaushi genetics and also of other breeds.

Once received at the plant, the animals will be sent to the pens, set up, properly sanitized and then led, one by one, towards the slaughter room. The infrastructure chosen for the receiving area, leading to the slaughter and storage room is entirely focused on meeting the “animal welfare” standards in order to avoid the discomfort and stress of the animals during the process.

Origine’s differential in humanitarian slaughter – which is a requirement of Ordinance No. 524, of June 21, 2011, MAPA, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) recommendations and international standards – is in the choice of the Grandin System, considered an innovative method, based on the concepts of rational management and well-being of cattle, developed by Mary Temple Grandin.

JR Indústria distinguishes itself by allowing different types of slaughtering, including Halal and Kosher, creating the possibility of production destined for countries in the Middle East, an essential aspect of the diversification of markets.
In addition to all this, it is emphasized that environmental aspects will be observed in all processes, seeking to save materials, reduce waste, adequate disposal of solid and liquid waste, mitigation of negative impacts and by-products such as fat, blood and bone meal.

For Origine, generating energy through waste is a way of allying awareness of the exercise of citizenship to the preservation of the environment, recycling and generating the energy resource, through the use of materials as a source of fuel. Based on this, the group created the Origine Waste Management Project, with the mission of generating new jobs, creating a structure for new manufacturing parks, as well as raising awareness about what can be done with garbage, which is then properly disposed.

Finally, in order to guarantee that all requirements are met, and to provide accurate information about its products and production processes, the Group makes a point uses traceability and certification throughout the production cycle.
The plant, whose environmental license has already been obtained, should have construction begin in 2017, and is expected to start operating in the first half of 2019.

The location of the industrial facilities will be in the municipality of Estreito, in Maranhão, chosen due to some factors, such as: logistical facilities found in the region; Capacity to meet its needs for access to raw materials and production outlets; Existence of traditional and, predominantly, extensive livestock activity; Large availability of water and grain for cattle feed; The fact that the activity will represent incentive to other economic agents since it is a region where traditional activities offer few opportunities to the workforce.
